Google dedicates doodle to author of novel "Little Women"

The Hawaii Times The American writer Louisa May Alcott, author of the novel Mujercitas was born a day like today, November 29, 184 years ago. Google pays homage to a doodle of his most remembered work.


In the image of the Google page the protagonists of "Little Women" are appreciated: Beth, Jo, Amy and Meg March. As well as Jo's neighbor and best friend, Laurie. YouTube also shared this doodle.


This novel is partially autobiographical and was published in 1868. As can be seen in the Google doodle, Jo is who reflects the spirit of Louisa May Alcott, scattering manuscripts in his path.

Louisa May Alcott, besides being a writer, was committed to the abolitionist movement and to the suffrage. She became the first American woman to register as a voter in Concord, Massachusetts.

"Little Women" in the movies:

This novel has been taken to the cinema in numerous occasions. The first versions were in 1917 and 1918. Another in 1933 and was directed by George Cukor with Katherine Hepburn and Joan Benett. In 1949, it was published that would be the most remembered of all. This film was made by Mervin LeRoy along with June Allyson, Margaret O'Brien, Mary Astor, Janet Leigh and Elizabeth Taylor. In 1994 the last one was released to date, and featured stars Susan Sarandon, Winona Ryder, Kirsten Dunst and Claire Danes.
